Emily Winburn '19

Athletic Alumni Hall of Fame

Emily Winburn graduated from Chaminade-Madonna in 2019. She has had an excellent softball career at Chaminade-Madonna and the University of Delaware.

At Chaminade-Madonna, Emily was a four-time Sun Sentinel First Team All-County selection and a three-time Miami Herald First Team All-County pick. She earned her varsity softball coach’s award all four years, struck out over 500 hitters, and was named the 2019 Scholar Athlete Award recipient.

Continuing her career at the University of Delaware, Emily became one of the most decorated players in program history. She was a four-time All-CAA and four-time All-Region selection, a three-time CAA All-Tournament honoree, and the 2023 CAA Pitcher of the Year—the first in school history. Emily set single-season records for wins, appearances, and saves. She graduated as Delaware’s all-time leader in both wins and saves. She is the only player in program history to earn four All-Region honors and one of three to record four All-Conference selections. A ten-time CAA Pitcher of the Week, four-time Rookie of the Week, and five-time Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll pick, Emily capped her career in 2024 by being named the University of Delaware Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year. That season, she posted a 22–7 record with five saves, a 1.52 ERA, 20 complete games, and seven shutouts, leading the Blue Hens to a program-record 39 wins.

Emily has returned to Chaminade-Madonna as the Administrative Assistant for Athletics and Head Softball Coach. Emily’s legacy as a fierce competitor, record-setter, and leader on and off the field makes her an enduring inspiration for our Lions.
