This week, students in Ms. Fraser's Biology class worked on a new lab! While performing the diffusion lab, students worked together to answer questions and learn about osmosis and diffusion.
Get to Know our Board
Whenever you think about getting ready to start a new school year, things like course syllabi and making sure that our technology is working properly probably come to mind. What people can “miss” are all the groups that function more behind-the-scenes but whose contributions to the life and health of the community are critical. Just think about what would happen if Chef Nick didn’t order food to prepare for lunch?
Another important group of people who volunteer their time and expertise is the Board of Trustees. “Who are they and what do they do?” you might ask.

First, they are individuals who agree to serve a 5- or 6-year term which means that they commit to working together for that length of time. Think about it – even if they begin a term when you are a freshman, they are still here for 2 more years after you graduate! That is real dedication. Some of them are alumni of Chaminade or Madonna, some of them are parents of alums, some of them are friends of our school. All of them give generously of their time.
Second, each member serves on a working committee. It might be finance, technology, or mission integration. There is a total of 9 working committees. These meet in-between the 4 whole board meetings that are scheduled during the school year. They are a tremendous resource for Dr. Mucheck as she guides our school. They are also your best cheerleaders. Nothing makes them happier than to see our students and our school succeed!
This year there are 14 members in total and their initial meeting of the year was on Saturday, September 18th. Not only did they discuss their work for this year (helping with our accreditation process and development of a new long-range plan), they invited some of our students to join them for lunch.
We are blessed to have them on our Lions team and grateful for the opportunity to thank them for everything that they do for us.

Honors Principles of Business
Students in Ms. Duncan's Honors Principles of Business class were given the task of learning how Hispanic Entrepreneurs (in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15-Oct. 15) overcame challenges, and took on risks of starting a business in America while meeting the needs of customers. They became Agents of Change by seeking out problems and then built companies to solve their community's problems. Students were asked to invent or create a new product or service that aligns to the Hispanic entrepreneur's business model. What a fun 3 minute "speed entrepreneur" gallery walk they had in Zaragoza!
