Today marks the end of Sophomore Week! Pictured from left to right are Sophomores Lucia M. '24, Maelee M. '24, Annabelle C. '24 and Julian S. '24, showing their class spirit on Monday by wearing their class color. Now let's get ready for next week... Homecoming Week!
Oh the places you’ll go!

Deciding which college to attend may be one of the toughest decisions a high school student has to make. CMCP students and parents are fortunate to have the College Placement Office, located in Belanger Hall, to help guide them through the college application process. The College Placement Office provides many networking opportunities, workshops, and informational meetings throughout the year.

The annual College Fair took place on Tuesday, October 5, with over 50 colleges/universities in attendance. All students, grades 9-12, took advantage of the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the college representatives from schools all over the country and beyond! Even as far as University College Dublin in Ireland! Ms. Harvey, Director of College Placement, shared that “It’s important for students to visit the college fair for many reasons, but the main reason is to expose them to a variety of colleges and universities. From in-state to out-of-state, public and private schools, big schools and small schools, and religiously affiliated and not. Having exposure to so many different types of schools can really help the students figure out what they are looking for in a college.”

At the College Fair students were able to ask questions, gather information and learn about what each school has to offer. Nicole P. ‘23 was one of the student ambassadors who assisted at the College Fair. She said her favorite part about helping out with the College Fair was “talking to college reps and getting to know the different programs they all have to offer. I was particularly looking into colleges that have a pre-law program and I was able to discover many colleges that were up my alley in which I showed great interest towards. I was not only able to talk to college reps in Florida but I had a wonderful time talking with reps from all parts of the United States and even outside of the country. This truly helped me because I have more colleges to choose from when I start applying next fall.” Ms. Suarez, Administrative Assistant to Guidance Office, assisted with the College Fair logistics. When asked about the College Fair, she said “To see students so engaged with the reps, from freshman to seniors, it was refreshing to hear them ask these reps important questions about an institution that could be their next home for the next four years.”

As students look towards the future, Ms. Harvey’s one piece of advice to consider when choosing a college/university is this: “It's important to feel a connection with the university and the campus. Just like choosing a high school, many schools are similar but we all have a different culture, finding the right fit is very important when choosing a college.”

A special thank you to everyone who helped make the annual College Fair a huge success! To see photos from the College Fair check out our Instagram here.
