Photo of the Week
This Thanksgiving season, the CMCP Interact Club is hosting the 13th Annual Harvest Drive. The Harvest Drive started on Monday, November 8 and will take place through Thursday, November 18. All of the adopted families are located in Hollywood and have been chosen for the Harvest Drive by St. Vincent de Paul Society and Little Flower Parish.
The Harvest Drive holds a special place in Mrs. Suarez’, Administrative Assistance to Guidance Office, heart. She started the Harvest Drive thirteen years ago and it has grown tremendously! When the Harvest Drive first started, CMCP fed about 20 families. The goal for this year is to exceed last year's goal of feeding 100 families. Mrs. Suarez hopes that during her tenure at CMCP, her passion for giving will inspire students to continue in her footsteps of giving back to the community. Mrs. Suarez believes that it’s important for students to get involved in the Harvest Drive so they can see how fortunate they are and how giving can impact others. Mrs. Suarez remembers delivering food years ago to the Harvest Drive families and how appreciative they were. She will never forget one family that had been evicted right before she showed up to deliver their food items. She recalled driving around looking for them and eventually found them at the neighborhood park with garbage bags full of their personal belongings. She was able to connect the family with the Red Cross and in that moment made a commitment to herself to always continue the Harvest Drive.
Each Theology class will sponsor a family for the Harvest Drive but the entire CMCP community can get involved! Mrs. Billisi ‘93, Director of Admissions, said the Harvest Drive has become a tradition for her family. They enjoy going to shop for the items together every year. Interact Club students will help lead their Theology class by keeping them informed on the items still needed for their family. They will also help Mrs. Suarez shop for any remaining items needed.
On Thursday, November 18, Interact Club students will fill shopping bags for each family with the donated items. St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers will deliver the bags to the families the weekend before Thanksgiving. For more information on the Harvest Drive visit www.cmlions.org/harvest-drive-donations.
Congratulations to Mrs. Billisi, Director of Admissions, for winning this week's "Guess the Ingredients" game! She gave the free lunch prize to her son, Joseph B. '24, pictured in the photo below on the right! Shoutout to SAGE for sponsoring this fun opportunity to win a free lunch!
