Pet Snake
Ms. Fraser originally thought Arthur was a male snake and chose a name fit for its royal heritage. She later found out it is actually a female snake.

Determination. Adaptation. Family.

Three virtues that define CM Lions’ success. Ask Coach Jones about football, and he’ll tell you it’s a business; he’ll tell you life is bigger than football. This takes on a deeper meaning since COVID-19, but truly this is the lesson he’s been instilling in each player since the day they first step foot on CMCP’s field. “I’m trying to train their minds to remember that football is fun, but it can be gone in an instant,” says Jones.

COVID-19 has forced this “live in the moment” reality upon us all. Coach Jones is right: Football can be gone in an instant. The team is happy to be playing now, and the goal is to try to compete for a fourth state championship “if we’re allowed,” remarks Jones, but the hesitancy remains. If we’re allowed. Many unknowns are still at large; the state of high school football is just one of them. “You don’t know how the ball is going to bounce,” says Jones, “so we’re just pushing through.”

More than pushing through, the team is relying on their coaches, training, and the family they’ve created. Here at CMCP our athletic strength matches our academic rigor which, in turn, meets our strong community spirit. When asked what makes our team stand out, Coach Jones responds, “Our environment at CMCP. The college prep environment here is not like any other. It puts you in that mindset to get ready for the world, and that mindset carries over to the field. It’s not all about fun and games and playing around. There’s a seriousness to it.”

COVID-19 might change the way we watch football, but it won’t change the dedication our student-athletes have for the sport. Our student-athletes give their all on the field, on the court, in the pool, and on the track. When you walk on this field, you walk into Lion Country. Hear us roar.
