Chaminade-Madonna Football Team Wins 2017 Class 3A State Championship Game

Hollywood, FL – The Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Football team was named the 3A State Champion this Saturday after defeating Oxbridge Academy with a final score of 31-28.

The championship game, which took place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, marks consecutive visits to the 3A State Championships for the Chaminade-Madonna Lions and their third state title. The Lions won championships in 2003 and 2005.

The game was won with four seconds remaining in regulation when kicker Daniel Longman drilled a field goal right down the middle giving the Lions a dramatic 31-28 victory.

This monumental victory comes on the heels of a victory against Clearwater Central Catholic in the Class 3A State Semifinals last month, with Chaminade-Madonna overwhelming their opponent with a 49-3 win.

Congratulations to our CMCP Lions football team for being crowned the 3A State Champions after defeating King's Academy with a final score of 38-10. The championship game, which took place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, marks consecutive visits to the 3A State Championships for the Chaminade-Madonna Lions and their fourth state title. "To me it's more than just a back-to-back State Championship," noted Head Coach Dameon Jones. "It's about teaching these young men how to overcome adversity. My goal has always been to mold these young men into successful student athletes and it couldn't be done without the support and help from the entire Chaminade Madonna community."
