Your enthusiasm and guidance truly makes an impact on our students. We appreciate all that you do for our Lions and hope your week was full of #LionPride! Read more about Teacher Appreciation Week below.

Our Faculty and Staff ROARS

This week, May 6 through May 10, Chaminade-Madonna celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Week. Throughout the week, our faculty and staff were recognized for their hard work and dedication.

Faculty and staff started their Monday morning by enjoying coffee and donuts in the faculty lounge. On Tuesday, faculty and staff were treated to a delicious complimentary lunch by SAGE Dining Services. To show their gratitude, the Student Government Association (SGA) passed out handwritten thank you notes along with a CMCP umbrella to all faculty and staff on Wednesday. Our ChaMa Mamas (parent volunteer group) brought a smile to everyone's face on Thursday by providing breakfast and special treats. Everyone was so surprised to see the faculty lounge decorated and filled with goodies! Each faculty and staff member also received a commemorative lapel pin in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. On Friday, faculty and staff had the choice of receiving a Publix or gas station gift card. Thank you to the Chaminade-Madonna community for making this week extra special for our Lions!

While all of these kind gestures show how grateful we are to our faculty and staff, the most meaningful is hearing from our students about how they have made a difference in their lives. Check out some of their heartfelt messages below:

“Mr. Gleichauf works extremely hard and engages students incredibly well. He is humble and works so hard to put together great productions. He does an amazing job at creating a positive, encouraging, professional, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere. We are pushed to our full potential and to better ourselves in his classes and clubs.” - Nicolette M. ‘27

“Mrs. Lagrange is an energetic and excellent teacher. Her teaching style is the best I've ever encountered in a classroom. She keeps her students engaged and gives fun but interesting labs to complete. I love how she not only teaches from a slideshow but also gives us activities to do.” - Melissa B. ‘24

“The ability for me to get excited for Mr. Kriss’ class when he teaches one of the hardest subjects is just a phenomenal effort by him. He makes us understand why we are doing the math and makes the lectures fun and easy to pay attention to.” - Lucas L. ‘25

“Ms. Cedeno-Fiorella has always been there for me and is a great role model. I couldn’t ask for a better teacher.” - Maxima C. ‘24

“AP Chemistry is the hardest class I've ever taken but Ms. Montalvo helps me understand it by how she demonstrates the problems.” - Anthony M. ‘26

“Mr. Heffernan always shows up with so much energy and passion. He always encourages us to think outside the box to help enhance our writing skills but also teaches us life lessons along the way.”

- Vivian A. ‘25

“Ms. Guerrero is an amazing teacher. As a freshman, I automatically felt very welcomed in her class and was excited to learn. She always makes sure that her students understand the material and answers all of our questions. She's very passionate about her teachings and shares that passion with her students. She greets everyone with a smile on her face and has made math fun to learn and understand! - Juliette B. ‘27

“Mr. Johnson is a really great teacher and is very understanding. He takes the time to explain things to you when you don’t understand them, and even reviews with us before any test to make sure that we are fully prepared. He also manages to make class interesting and keeps our attention.” - Cassidy D. ‘27

As Teacher Appreciation Week concludes today, we thank our exceptional faculty for their commitment to Catholic, Marianist education. Your enthusiasm and guidance truly makes an impact. We appreciate all that you do for our Lions and hope your week was full of #LionPride!

Congratulations Katherine M. '24

Congratulations to Katherine M. ‘24 on receiving the Steve Shortall Memorial Grant. Steve graduated from Chaminade High School in 1979. Steve’s family established this grant in his memory to assist graduating seniors with their college needs. Today, May 9, Katherine received a $1,500 check from the Shortall family which she plans to use towards the cost of dorm room supplies as she embarks on her next chapter at Howard University. Thank you to Judi, Chase, and Sterling Shortall for honoring Steve’s legacy by giving back to a fellow Lion.

Congratulations to Gavin H. '27, Max H. '27, and Clarence M. '26

Gavin H. '27, Max H. '27, and Clarence M. '26 received the outstanding altar server award from Serra International Club of Miami/Broward following a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Wenski of the Archdiocese of Miami at the Saint John Vianney College Seminary on April 20th.

Theology

As the Class of 2024 approaches graduation, the senior Theology class presented an assignment called, “This I Believe”. The object was for seniors to write and present a personal belief statement about a core belief that guides their life- what gives their life meaning or joy, what are important lessons they have learned.

Some of the topics presented were “Create a Life You are Excited to Wake Up To”, “Mothers are Superheroes”, “Following Your Own Path”, “Losing Can Teach Important Lessons” and “People Can Change, So Don’t Give Up Them." After presenting, each student was invited to add color sand to build a symbol of the different beliefs expressed by their classmates, in gratitude for their time together as the Class of 2024 and prayers for the next part of their journey as they live out Chaminade-Madonna’s motto, Toward a Better World.
