Four Hour Classes


(All costs include transportation)

Abandoned Pet RescueCost $15.00
Students will visit the Abandoned Pet Rescue Center, a no-kill facility,
in Fort Lauderdale to assist the staff in caring for neglected and
abandoned dogs and cats. Duties may include cleaning the facility,
walking the dogs, and playing/spending time with the dogs and cats.
Students can earn 16 service hours. See Mrs. Miller.
Backstage ToursCost $ 35.00
Students will be taken on a backstage tour of two television studios
and two stage theatres. They will visit NBC, Channel 10,
the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and the Parker Playhouse.

Beginner’s GolfCost $60.00
Students who have never played golf will spend 3 days at
C.B. Smith Park Driving Range and 1 day at the Pines
Par Three Golf Course. See Mr. Luongo or Mr. Lundblad.
Bookstore VolunteerFREE
Students can earn 16 service hours by working in the
C-M Bookstore. See Mr. Corvino.
Careers in AthleticsCost: $ 15.00
Students will tour UM, Dolphins Stadium, and Fort Lauderdale
Stadium to learn about the many career opportunities in athletics.

Careers in Extreme SportsCost: $ 80.00
Can you make a living doing something you like? Activities will
include kayaking, paint ball, rock climbing, and
water-skiing/wake boarding/knee boarding.

City of Hollywood Volunteer ExperienceCost: $25.00
Students will do volunteer projects in Hollywood each day.
They can earn 16 service hours for their participation in this course.

Community Service through Band PerformanceCost $15.00
Students will provide community service through the performing of
music to nursing homes in the community. They can earn 16
service hours for their participation in this course See Mr. Lott.
Culinary Arts InstituteCost: $ 35.00
Students will tour Johnson & Wales, the Art Institute of Florida,
Florida Institute of Technology, and Le Cordon Bleu.

Driver’s EducationCost $150.00
Each student will go out with trainers all week. They will get a
certificate. Three students will be assigned to a car. Students must
be 15 years of age and have a learner’s permit. See Ms. Hagood.
German for BeginnersCost $ 5.00
Students will learn basic German language skills. Emphasis will
be on speaking and pronunciation. See Mr. Parrish.
Helping HandsCost: $ 50.00
Students can earn 10 service hours while repairing houses and
volunteering in an elementary school. See Ms. Cole.
Love for AnimalsCost $ 95.00
Students will interact and have fun with animals at Butterfly World,
Parrot Jungle, Bar B Ranch, and Metro Zoo. They will take pictures
to make a collage for prizes. Cost includes lunch each day.

Mural PaintingFREE
Students can earn 16 service hours by painting a mural at school.
Admission only by approval of Ms. Canosa.
Mystery of the Invisible UniverseCost $ 25.00
This class will take the students on a journey in the universe to
explore supernovas, black holes, dark matter, time travel, and the
incredible spectrum of the universe from its origins to the theory
of everything. Students will visit Buehler Planetarium.

OchoCost: $ 50.00
Obscure Sports & Recreational Activities – Students will learn
the rules of Laser Tag, Roller Skating, Ice Skating, Mini-Golf,
and Competitive Gaming. Students will visit Kabooms, Boomer’s,
the Pembroke Pines Ice Arena, and Don Carter Bowling Lanes.

Scuba Certification ExperienceCost: $515.00
or $395.00
This is a PADI open water diver course. Students will receive
their PADI Open Water Certification Card.. Cost: Option 1:$515.00
all inclusive. Option 2: $395.00 (student provides mask,
fins, and snorkel). See Mr. Lavin or Mr. Keller.
South Florida Eco-adventureCost $ 91.00
Students will experience South Florida’s natural environment through
outdoor activities including bicycling the Everglades, snorkeling a
coral reef, exploring the cypress swamp in a swamp buggy, and touring
a hardwood forest on horseback. See Mrs. Fisher or Mrs. Campbell.
