Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory

Media Center

The Media Center/Library is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Fridays.  On the first and fourth Wednesday of every month, the Media Center/Library closes at 1:30 P.M. for faculty and staff professional development.

Students are encouraged to use the Media Center/Library during their lunch period.

The Media Center provides students with an environment conducive for studying, completing homework or research.  Students needing to do research are encouraged to visit our Online Resources Page for a list of resources.  This list was compiled from years of experience and research and is intended to guide our students to appropriate educational sites.

In addition, the Media Center is home to two 30-machine computer labs, complete with top of the line Dell computers and flat screen monitors, used for both coursework and general use by the school community.

The Media Center is also home to the Offices of the Athletic Directors, the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs, and the Director of Technology.

All students, employees, parents, and alumni of Chaminade-Madonna are eligible to use the media center facilities and resources. Books may be borrowed for four weeks and renewed as needed if no one else has requested them. Check out and return books at the librarian's desk. Reference books and periodicals may be checked out overnight only. The fine for overdue books is ten cents per school day per book.

All resource materials may be located using the Concourse Online Public Access Catalog. Nonfiction materials are shelved in numerical order by a Dewey Decimal call number. Novels are labeled FIC to indicate that they are works of fiction and are shelved in alphabetical order by the author's last name. Collections of short stories are labeled SC for "story collection" and are shelved in alphabetical order by the author's last name. Biographies and autobiographies are assigned the Dewey Decimal number 92 and are shelved alphabetically by the last name of the person whose life is covered in the book.
